Mama’s Hot Sauce RIP

Well, we practiced and got good, but could never get any gigs. So much for Rockabilly.  My slapping ability got better. I got faster on the upright. Just couldn’t get the engine running.

Winner of the 2014 L.A. Battle of the Bands!

Cats with Class, won the 2014 L.A. Battle of the Bands against seven other rock finalists!

The surprising part for me is where when the camera revolves around to show the 20-30 years old rocker sporting their metal band shirts!  Maybe we could open for the metal band Lamb of God next time they’re in town.  Their fans love us, too!

Good art transcends all ages.

We were able to piece together almost the whole show.  The videographer, Chuck Jones, got worried the internal mic was being overblown and took a little time out to attach a remote mic.  But, as you can see, he got it all together in post.

Watch it!  Like it!  Love it!

Bass on board!

The law says, I can fly with my bass at no extra charge- In the cabin–Hurray.! I’ve always been a bit nervous about my basses.  All you players,  maybe print this out next time you fly.  Unfortunately, my upright doesn’t fit the bill.  He needs a whole seat to himself.

“An air carrier providing air transportation shall permit a passenger to carry a violin, guitar, or other musical instrument in the aircraft cabin, without charging the passenger a fee in addition to any standard fee that carrier may require for comparable carry-on baggage, if

(A) the instrument can be stowed safely in a suitable baggage compartment in the aircraft cabin or under a passenger seat, in accordance with the requirements for carriage of carry-on baggage or cargo established by the Administrator; and

(B) there is space for such stowage at the time the passenger boards the aircraft.”

Board early!  Bon Voyage.
