Incidental Music for the Stage Play “Proof” by David Auburn

Theatre is music of the soul and Proof is a particularly musical and soulful play.   It calls for attention to tempo, dynamics, harmony, and dissonance;  It is rich with colors, moods, shape, and form.  With this in mind, I composed the Incidental music for Proof in the style of a twelve-tone serialism of Arnold Schoenberg.

An Interesting note. Many patrons commented with positive notes on the use of the twelve-tone music scale. All the reviewers except for one noted that the twelve-tone style fit the dynamics of the play beautifully. That reviewer wrote that the music sounded like a 7-year-old with a Casio. Oh, well. Perhaps I should have spelled it out in the program.
